More Points for French Speakers

Updated: Jan 5, 2021

Changes being made to the CRS system to reflect the government’s commitment to supporting Francophone minority communities outside of Quebec. This is part of Canada's goal to increase immigration by record numbers to 400,000 yearly for the next three years.

The new CRS calculation will allow individuals with French language ability to obtain up to an additional 30 points, contributing greatly to their ability to achieve a score that is above the cutoff.

Having a second language (English or French) also contributes to an overall higher score, but now this may garner even more points than ever before.

If you have completed French language testing, now is the time to get in the Express Entry pool to take advantage of the additional points being offered and to give yourself the opportunity to become a permanent resident of Canada.

If you speak French but have not been assessed, consider having this done by either TEF Canada - Test d’évaluation de français, www.lefrancaisdesaffaires.fr or TCF Canada - Test de connaissance du français www.france-education-international.fr.
